Engaged
On Christmas Day, Ryk and I were getting ready to go to my mom's to celebrate Christmas with my mom, brother, his fiance and their 3 children. I was running around trying to get things together to go to my mom's house when Ryk asked me to come sit down with him. He proceeded by telling me how much he loved me and apologized for sometimes not being able to do things properly. He waited for me to say, "like what", he responded, "like carry boxes, walk on ice" and he paused and said, "get down on my knee when I give you this". He then whisked a ring box from beneath a pillow and ask me if I would marry him. I teared up momentarily and wrapped my arms around his neck and of course said, "yes". We then kissed and went off to my moms.
I'm going to begin updating my live journal more frequently for those of you who I don't see or talk to on a daily or weekly basis.
Hope all of you had a wonderful, relaxing Christmas and New Year.

Life
In a little over 2 months I will turn the big "40". I think I'm actually happy with where I'm at in my life even though I haven't won the lottery. I would have to play to win. I moved back to the Tampa area in July of 2006. I felt like I was ready for a change in my life and their was an incentive with the move. I began dating Ryk (someone very special to me and who I love a lot). He is always supportive of any new venture in my life. We've been friends for over twenty years. I have a great job working for and Early Learning Coalition in central Florida and in August of this year I enrolled in college to finish my bachelor's degree in early childhood education. There are many days that I leave at 6:30 or 7 in the morning and don't get home until between 9 and 10 at night, but I know in the long run that all my hard work will pay off one day. Some days I feel like throwing in the towel because of the pressures with work or school. Then I remember nothing comes free in life without determination and hard work.
If you're in the education profession and have any words of wisdom to share please feel free to do so.
Gotta close for now I need to finish some assignments for my Tuesday and Wednesday night classes.

Current Mood: busybusy
